I run rtorrent-0.8.9-2.el6.rf.i686 on a centos 6 server 32bit (command line only). Firstly I have to say rtorrent is just brilliant and it enables me to seed all through the night independent of my pc's.
Attached is a screenshot of my adsl data stream when downloading using rtorrent, you can see I started the download just before 5:30pm and it finished just before 6:10pm - it's cyclic in the way it goes up and down. Can anyone explain why this is? other downloads just come down smooth and they don't peak and trough like with rtorrent. It's no big deal that it does this but it would be good to understand why.

Well, in all honesty I wouldn't go with 0.8.9. From what I seen and heard from others; 0.8.6 is still very much in use as well as 0.9.2 or 0.9.3.

Then again, your rtorrent.rc could explain a lot as well as the hardware/specs your server is running on. I tend to run Ubuntu servers sometimes within VMware on my Windows-machine and can max out my 120Mbit downstream easily using "just" 4GB RAM and 1x 3.2GHz CPU.
