It seems to me that the upload/download limits is not saved if rtorrent is restarted. Is that by design or a bug?

it reads the limit set in your config on load, if you change them at runtime, the new values are only used until rtorrent is stopped and the process repeats untill you modify your config

This is by design.

If you have limits you want to set, set them in .rtorrent.rc

if you don't have ACCESS to .rtorrent.rc, then whoever set up your server probably didn't realize they should block you from changing settings to begin with.

Thank you, then i know. Thought that the setting would be saved in the settings file.

gui type settings get saved, but anything which is configured in the actual client itself gets reset when the client is restarted.

This is due to the simple fact that rutorrent isn't a client, it's a webui for the client. It's the frontend.

any backend settings, while possible to change when rtorrent is running, will be reset to whatever is in the .rtorrent.rc upon restart.
