Is it possible to enable the option tracker_dump through rutorrent? I'm having problems with torrents that worked with torrentflux but dont work anymore. And every thing i tried to to do enable tracker_dump i only get that the config option is not understood. So maybe i'm doing something wrong.
Maybe rutorrent could help me do it the right way, but i cant find the option anywhere?

Then i'll try to explain. I previously used torrentflux and now switched over to rTorrent. I have a torrent that i only get "Tracker: [Could not parse bencoded data]", so it wont download. Worked fine with torrentflux.
What i have read, there should be a setting in rTorrent so it is possible to get a more extensive log of the tracker activity. So i could get more information om what is really going on and not only "Tracker: [Could not parse bencoded data]" which does not say much.
According to what i've found on Google this setting is called tracker_dump. But whatever i try rTorrent refuses to understand that setting, and i really need to get more information about why the torrent wont download with rTorrent. I thought that maybe i was using the setting wrong and that it was available in ruTorrent and it would help me to use it right.

For rTorrent 0.8.6 you must add to conf file line
set_log.tracker = /tmp/tracker.dmp

After that you may see all traffic with tracker in file /tmp/tracker.dmp.

Yes i know it was more of a rtorrent question. But since you can configure many other thins through rutorrent my question was if it also was possible to configure this.

But i'm thankful for the answer even though it wasn't directly related to rutorrent.

Ok, i misunderstood =) Some forums a very hard at not asking questions about things related to their "product". But good to know i dont get banned for asking rtorrent questions =)

Anyway, is there a forum for specific rtorrent questions? (Still dont get a logfile, and the torrents work perfect in uTorrent and torrentflux. But even though i only used rTorrent/ruTorrent for a few days i'm hooked and would really hate to have to go back to torrentflux. But then i need to get rTorrent to be able to download all torrents. And thinking that discussion is out of scope for this forum.)

does that error show up on every torrent?

Are you trying new torrents or are you trying to resume partially downloaded torrents from torrentflux?

Are you behind a router or firewall?

you don't have to restart rTorrent, you could just reload the .rtorrent.rc with CTRL-x and then typing import ~/.rtorrent.rc.

Not all torrents, some work without a problem. I have two that dont work. On completely new and one that was partially downloaded with torrentflux. I am behind a router but not a firewall.

Since i haven't reinstalld torrentflux on this new distro i moved the partially downloaded file to my Win computer and used uTorrent instead, no problem. So i dont need to change anything with my network to get other clients to download the torrents. But maybe i need some extra setting in rtorrent to make it work? Both torrents i have problem with come from TPB, haven't tried any more from that site.

Restarted rtorrent after trying the log setting, and the log file is directed to the same directory that i save my torrent downloads to. So there should be no permission problem

yah, i'd look at your port forwarding setup if you were behind a router. torrentflux, if i remember right, had UPNP options which could make it easy to forward ports. In rtorrent you must forward them manually.

Maybe it wasn't necessary, but i already did when using torrentflux. Using the same port range now with rTorrent as i did when i was using torrentflux. And i have opened up for that range in the router. And other torrents works, but torrents from TPB seems to be a problem. Atleast the two i have.

Don't know if it is aginst the rules, but do a search for "Da Nao Tian Gong torrent" on Google, old animated movie. That is one of the torrents from TPB that is not working for me using rTorrent.

and you are forwarding ports 18400-18440 to the ip of the server rtorrent is on?
Yes i am. And torrents from other trackers work. So i do believe that rTorrent has some kind of bug and dont understand the response from the tracker. Either that or uTorrent and torrentflux(dont remember the client used) dont care about the (possible)faulty answer and download anyway.
