Interface is not styled...

I've just installed rutorrent on top of lighttpd in ArchLinux, and the interface doesn't appear to be playing nice. I've done extensive searching, but can't seem to come across a similar problem. The interface has no 'style', as if the stylesheet weren't there. I get no icons, fonts, highlights etc (see http://i.imgur.com/eDnfm.png)

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what might be wrong? I assume it's some kind of misconfiguration somewhere, but if anybody could even point me in the right direction, I'd be very grateful.

I also have this problem. For me it doesn't work with Chromium and Firefox, but Opera is just fine. Also, I disabled AdBlock Plus completely in Firefox and Chromium and still can't see the interface as it should be.

I'm on Archlinux x86_64, using lighttpd - I think this doesn't matter as Opera renders the page just fine.

no. Javascript is enabled on both browsers. I am a regular user of google reader, which uses a lot of js.

Ok, so now I'm at work, on a windows machine. This is how it looks:

1. Firefox (4 beta 6) with no add-ons installed.

2. Chrome 6.0.472.63

3. Opera - this is how it should look

I also tried it in IE8 and it looks fine. I have no idea why this happens and if this is normal. Also, I tried at home with Firefox, midori, Chrome (doesn't work) and Opera (works fine) on Linux.

I am also on ArchLinux (albeit using x86, not x86-64). I have used lighttpd from the repository, and had the problem with both the AUR rutorrent package and when I downloaded and installed it myself. It's nothing to do with javascript being disabled in the browser.

I'm not using the AUR package either. I just downloaded the latest rutorrent from the google code page and put it in my http root directory.

i don't know, it should work fine. It must be something wrong on your specific distro which is causing it to fail.

Did you try using apache? If it works from apache, then we know it's something wrong in lighttpd and we can start to figure out what's missing

As you can see in the screenshots, it looks perfect on Opera, only browsers using webkit and gekko engines are not showing it fine.... that's not a big issue for me (yet!), but I'd like to be able to browse my seedbox on any browser.

what you aren't understanding is:

It works fine for me in those browsers, so this is something wrong on your system.

Either something wrong on your setup, or something wrong on your browsers.

I've tried to give you some things to check. I don't know what else to do.

In Firefox, make sure you check View > Page Style > Basic Page Style. Make sure it's not set to "No Style" or you may end up with a page looking like what you posted.

Just letting you know that I have it running on ArchLinux under Apache, and use Firefox 3.6 on Linux and it looks fine

Yes, it looks fine after I installed Apache...

I tried the tip suggested by gijsyo, but still doesn't work, so I presume lighttpd on arch x86_64 is to blame. Anyway, I'll keep apache for now.

here's a shot with firefox "Basic page style":

Wonslung has it! The mimetypes are wrong. I've only just sorted it, so I've not done any checking but I'm guessing either the defaults in the default Arch config are incorrect, or just that lighttpd serves it up incorrectly anyway, but explicitly entering the mimetypes worked. I just copied the entries from http://redmine.lighttpd.net/wiki/1/Mimetype.assignDetails (and deleted the existing ones), and now it works fine!

Will do a bit more fiddling to see exactly what the problem was, but thanks for all the help!
