low access to hard drive, less memory & CPU

I have installed rutorrent on my debian NAS server, configuration;
libxmlrpc-c3 (1.06.27-1.1)
screen (4.0.3-14)
libtorrent11 (0.12.6-2)
rtorrent (0.8.6-1)

In prior to rutorrent & rtorrent installation, my NAS server lets the hard drive to go sleep or at least I don't hear noise from NAS server. After the installation I hear continuous access of hard drive.

I have set multiple watch folders on my rtorrent.
Installed several plugins for rutorrent.

Can you suggest me a good setting, so that the rutorrent & rtorrent takes minimum access to hard drive and uses less memory and cpu.

if you're seeding a torrent chances are it's using the hard drive.

Do you think it's not good idea to have too many watch folders? that I have around 20 watch folder with unique destination!!

watch means it will poll every so often. I don't think it's a big deal to have the hard drive spinning personally but you may
