Did you read and understand the error message?

Log in as the user and start rtorrent and show the error message.

first of all, if you have a problem relating to another post, then use that thread.

Second of all, you just need to use a text editor. There are tons of options.

nano is probably the best option for noobs.

google.

How is this question related to XMLRPC? Click the new thread button.

ruTorrent is not using 3.5GB of memory even if you have 3.5GB available. ruTorrent is a web app, run by the web server and your web browser.
Nowhere in the default .rtorrent.rc file does it say that it should allocate 3.5GB to rtorrent or all your memory. If it's using 3.5GB (you'll have to show a picture because I don't believe you), then something's wrong with your installation. My rtorrent is using 16MB of memory. Far from your reported 3.5GB. Since you can't even open your own .rtorrent.rc file, I have a feeling that the 3.5GB is 100% wrong.
