Hello.

I'm using an Ubuntu 10.04 server and followed this excellent guide here for setting up rutorrent:

http://forums.rutorrent.org/index.php?topic=256.0

The installation seemed to go fine, but i'm having one or two issues now that I was hoping someone might be able to help me with?

Prior to installing rutorrent I was able to use x2go to remotely connect to the desktop. But now when I try to log into x2go with the user account I created during the rutorrent installation it just hangs on the 'connecting' screen forever. When I try to log in with the root account it now comes up with incorrect password. Also, I can no longer log into the root account using Putty either. I think this was down to me changing several SSH settings as outlined in the above guide, e.g. preventing root access via SSH, but even if I change the settings back the originals I can still no longer log in with either putty or x2go using the root account. Do you have any idea how I can fix it so I can use both rutorrent and x2go?

Thanks in advance! :)

P.S. I am a complete noob with both linux and rutorrent so apologies in advance!!

I don't see how this is rutorrent related but OK here goes... smiley.gif

SSH in using your unprivileged account (you did make one, right?) then use sudo or su when you need root privileges.

As for the x2go, ask them :p
