Whenever I try and add a torrent that has TPB trackers or the Openbittorrent tracker in it, ruTorrent chokes up and gives me that error.

Its ruTorrent 3.2 on a seedbox.

Anyone know how to fix this?

It means rtorrent can't parse the data the tracker sends back to it. There's nothing you can do, except file a rtorrent bug report.

To have it immediately closed, because that is useless. That message means the server sends a 500 page or similar, i.e. TRASH.

I agree that it's the most likely cause, but unless you've proven rtorrent to be 100% free of bencoding bugs, then it could be a bug in rtorrent.

Also, when using this tracker:

udp://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80/announce

The torrent just sits there and nothing happenes.

Samething happened to me!!!, however what I did was to force a re-check and after it finished, the torrent file began to start seeding and there was no more problems. Hope this helps.
