Ubuntu Seedbox with rtorrent | rutorrent | pureftpd | multi-user (optional)

Hi Thanks for the awesome guide, just set the server up today. However, there is a slight problem - adding a new user takes quite a while and a lot of manual work. Would there be a way to make an automated or semi-automated script for that? I am not that good at linux scripting. Thanks

What language did you try? And what happened. You say boom, but that doesn't say much. Did your computer blow up? Did rtorrent crash?

Hey everyone. First time on these forums, first time checking out ruTorrent really. Did a search after I got leased a server and found this thread, because it matched my needs perfectly. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 32-bit on a Pentium D 820 Dual Core Dedicated Server. It's a single CPU Dual...

A little google'ing would've solved it. It's a non-breaking space. Remove those and try again.

Since you're using Ubuntu, you should be using the sudo command to get root privileges. Eg., instead of eg. chown -R blah do sudo chown -R blah. The first problem is probably because you're not in the right directory. Use the cd command to change directory. I'm not exactly sure which dir it...

These dont really look right to me: Code: directory = /home/downloads/rtor session = /home/downloads/rtor/.session schedule = watch_directory,5,5,load_start=/home/downloads/rtor/watch/*.torrent Unless you really have it like that? From what you said before I would think it should be more like...

sounds like your session is still open =) I'm not sure which script you are using to start rtorrent, but you should add something to delete the old lock file perhaps.

It tends to happen when you have a corruption issue. When the file doesn't save correctly and gets corrupt, this can happen.

This guide wasn't for 10.10 there should be a gcc package in 10.10 which WILL work, probably 4.4 just use apt-cache to find the replacement packages. irssi isn't "necessary" and netiher is lynx but it is something which is consindered "nice to have" on a seedbox. install them if you like.

Is there some other repository I'm supposed to add for this to work? I'm using a supposedly "vanilla" image of Ubuntu 10.04 (64-bit) from my VPS provider and whenever I get to the Install necessary basic packages" step, it fails miserably. Code: torrent@XXXXXXXX:~$ sudo apt-get install apache2...
